Progeria

Technology might have developed a lot especially medical field. But still people are suffering with lots of new diseases. Newborn babies are affected with many diseases which are not cured even by latest technologies. One among such disease is Progeria. It is also known as Hutchinson Gilford Syndrome. It is not a hereditary disease. It is a rare and severe disease of early aging. It resembles normal human aging among young children. Progeria occurs because of mutation on the gene that encodes protein LaminA which is due to replacement of cytosine with thymine. Various symptoms are shrunken/wrinkled face, baldness, loss of eyebrows and eyelashes; head size is larger than normal, small jaw, normal growth failure, pinched nose etc. There is no proper treatment have been found so far. Hope future technology will find a solution.

Amitabh Bachan is playing a role of child affected with progeria in the movie “paa”. It is the most challenging role. He plays a 13 year old child who looks like a 25 year old. This film will bring awareness among people regarding progeria.
